The Seastar 1000 Automatic Diver is the latest addition to the well know Seastar line of timepieces. It represents a classic automatic diver in both size and appearance and is a great entry level Swiss Made automatic diver for many collectors. It does utilize the Powermatic 80 movement (aka ETA C07.111) and may be a movement that is not well known to all collectors.
Since taking the world of horology by storm in 2012, HYT (the "Hydro Mechanical Horologists") have been producing so fascinating and technologically amazing timepiece that use fluids in a variety of novel and interesting ways to display and track the passage of time. The new HYT H0 X Eau Rouge (or "red fluid") is yet another new piece. Join us and take a bit of a deep dive into this incredible new watch and custom movement.
Believe us when we tell you that this is a watch guy watch! This Swiss automatic jumping hour function was created in conjunction with artist Karsten K. Krebs, and released in a limited edition of only 500. Sapphire crystal (of course) and 20 atm water resistance. The hour numerals appear in one of the five dial windows representing the planets and orbits of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars and Jupiter, with the Sun taking the center position. The Swiss ETA 2892 is custom modified resulting in the FORTIS caliber F-2024 which makes all this happen including a rotating dial varying the look over the course of 12 hours. NOTE: THERE ARE VERY FEW OF THESE AVAILABLE. Act quickly!
Fans of mechanical open heart / multiple complications will love this! 44mm 316L steel case with light parchment colored textured dial beneath scratch resistant mineral crystal. But the real story here is the compilation array. Sweep second near the center with the axis of hour and minute hands moved a bit north of that. Of course the framed open heart display near the six is a focal point, but also note the GMT dial near the 10 and the animated am/pm wheel using rising/setting sun and moon illustrations near the two! Hands are treated to be luminous as well. The msrp on this piece is 250.00 and in looking around we’ve found this in the 100 dollar range plus shipping. TAW is just 79.99 with shipping, AND unlike any other deal we include BOTH brown and black 22mm leather straps! No one else is doing that! Act quick and please enjoy this bargain on a captivating automatic watch!
We know that alot of you are fans of larger over-sized timepieces. With that in mind, we would like to introduce you to the Kerbedanz Maximus. The largest tourbillon ever put into a wristwatch. It is enormous and amazing! Not only do we take you on a bit of a deep dive of the Maximus, but we show you the prior record holder...the equally amazing Franck Muller Giga Tourbillon. And, we could touch a subject like this without mentioning the incredible Antoine Martin Slow Runner and the massive 24mm balance wheel that it utilizes. Enjoy!
The Renato Master Horologe Martin Braun Moonphase uniquely demonstrates the brilliance of Martin Braun to deliver a moon phase complication unlike any other! If you know his work (as a watch geek this is well worth checking out, read more below) then you know not only is it stellar but understandably expensive. Martin Braun’s moon phase may be set to the minute of the actual cycle of the moon! Renato acquired these Swiss movements (ETA 2824-2 25 jewel elaboré grade automatics) hand modified by Martin Braun himself and we got a special deal that delivers this level of craftsmanship for the lowest price anywhere! Shipping in the custom box that Renato originally designed for their now very rare tourbillon, and presented on a magnificent genuine alligator strap.
At Baselworld 2018, the Tudor watch brand created a bit of controversy with the release of the new Black Bay GMT with a "pepsi" style bezel. The controversy comes from some fans of the brand and was due to their "big brother" brand Rolex also releasing a pepsi style GMT in the form of the GMT Master II. All of that aside, we think that the new Tudor Black Bay GMT stands firmly on its own and brings quite a bit to the table. What say you?
With classic Gevril flair and style, this aristocratic men’s watch is sure to create a fashion statement. Its guilloché dial creates a sharp effect and features an open heart, Swiss Made automatic movement and stainless steel indexes. A Mulberry Street scene is pictured on the fully open sapphire case back. Comfortably secured in place with a black crocodile embossed leather strap, it fastens with a deployment clasp for safe all day wear. Powered by reliable M05G Swiss automatic movement and water resistant to 50 meters, this stylish and elegant watch is a great addition to any timepiece collection.
The Breitling Chronomat B01 44 is a brand fan favorite and has been for some time. At Baselworld 2018, the newest version that was released continues the overall look, but done in a more subtle nature that will appeal to many. In particular, the case and bracelet is finished in 316L satin-brushed stainless steel. Additionally, the dial (available in "blackeye" blue and grey only) has been finished in a more simplified and subtle way. We did conduct an informal poll of the Talk About Watches staff in the office and, to a person, everyone likes the watch. The only "complaint" was an overall preference for less water resistance (this new model is 500m) and the inclusion of an exhibition caseback. What say you?
