It's great to stay up to date on what is happening in the watch industry. But not all "news" is really all that newsworthy. We will do our best to bring you the most interesting and relevant information from the industry on a regular basis. Learn more about what we plan to cover and how.
By this time tomorrow, almost all of our team will already be in Switzerland for Baselworld 2018 or will be in the process of traveling there. This is going to mean a few things to you (the reader/customer) and we want to make you aware of them, Additionally, we want to make you aware of what our current plans are in regards to the show, who we are meeting with and what plans we have. While subject to change at any time, here's everything you need to know right now.
In the latest edition of our Pre-Basel 2018 series, we cover the new Nord Zeitmaschine CROSSNROLL. We didn't think that Daniel Nebel (the owner of Nord Zeitmaschine) could out do himself. After getting an email from him in preparation for the meeting that Tim and Michael have with him this week in Switzerland, we totally stand corrected. If his new CROSSNROLL doesn't blow your mind, nothing will! If you do nothing else, please do scroll down in the article and check out the videos of this amazing custom made timepiece in action! It really has to be seen to be believed!
Everyone knows that unicorns are mythical creatures that do not really exist. However, in the world of horology and Rolex they do! The almost mythical Rolex Daytona Reference 6265 done in white gold will go on the auction block in Switzerland on May 12th. Experts all agree that this is the one and only Rolex Daytona 6265 done in white gold that was ever made. With the proceeds of the sale of this watch going to charity, this timepiece is almost guaranteed to be one of the most expensive wrist watches ever sold, rivaling the "Bao Dai" and possibly even the "Paul Newman Daytona". Get the details here!
Talk About Watches is very happy to be able to report that the watch brand Pramzius has launched their Kickstarter campaign for the much anticipated "Berlin Wall" timepiece as a follow up to their debut watch the Trans Siberian. For those that don't know, Pramzius is a brand that is owned and founded by our very good friend Craig Hester. Craig is a long time friend of both Tim and Michael and he has also been a long time supported of Talk About Watches and what we are trying to do with our site. Unlike many in the watch industry, Craig is not a guy trying to make money off of watches. He is a true watch guy that just happens to be able to make his living from this passion for timepieces that we all share. We fully recommend and endorse Craig personally, the Pramzius watch brand and this stunning new Berlin Wall timepiece. And, we also encourage everyone to support him on Kickstarter and be a part of introducing this stunning timepiece to the world.
Tim, Michael and the entire Talk About Watches team are very excited to announce that the watch brand Edmond has officially joined the ever increasing list of brands represented here on the site! In fact, today, they become the 21st watch brand and 25th brand over all to join the Talk About Watches family (and we keep telling you that we STILL aren’t done…look for even more announcements coming soon! Especially after our return from Baselworld 2018!). We are still working out the particulars as far as what all will be offered from Edmond. However, we will be meeting with the management team from the brand while Tim and Michael are in Switzerland at Baselworld next week. As soon as we have more information, we will make it available to you immediately.
In the latest edition of our Pre-Basel 2018 series, we bring you the Angelus U50 titanium flying tourbillon diver. In addition to breaking the watch down for you, we also dig into flying tourbillons (like the A-300 movement used in this timepiece) and how they differ from classic tourbillons as well as key aspects of the Angelus brand. Including their "infamous" Chronodato and also their ties to the Panerai Mare Nostrum that was never originally made. Following our motto to "entertain, educate and inform", this posting has a great deal of information for you! Enjoy!
What many people don't know is that Baselworld is more than just finished timepieces. It also has jewelry, software, tools, and many other categories. Including movements. With Baselworld 2018 rapidly approaching, Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier (VMF) has just recently announced the release of their latest high-end movement. The Calibre Seed VMF 6710. It is yet another stunning movement by VMF and we have no doubt that it will be yet another success for the brand. However, in the case of VMF, there is much more below the surface that may be of interest to the watch collector. Let us take you on a tour of this incredible movement as well as all of the other related information that may be of benefit and interest to you.
While preparing for Tim's and Michael's trip to Switzerland for the upcoming Baselworld 2018 show, we found very strong indications that Invicta and Invicta owned brands will not be attending this year. While we have reached out to contacts at Invicta for comment, we have not heard back from them on this yet. Since this newsworthy to many of the readers and customers here on Talk About Watches, we did want to present the information that we do have as well as some individual commentary as well. Most importantly, it must be pointed out that not attending is NOT necessarily a bad thing for the brand. But, it is certainly interesting. Check out what we can report to you now and if (or when) we get more information, we will update this posting immediately.
